Karateka from Arunachal Pradesh, Veronica Padung has brought laurels by winning a gold medal at the 17th All India Independence Karate Championship 2023.

Veronica Padung won the gold medal in Senior Female Kumite (Sparring) 55 kg category at the 17th All India Independence Karate Championship 2023 held in New Delhi’s Talkatora Indoor Stadium.

The championship was organized by Karate India Organization (KIO).

Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein congratulated Padung on winning the gold at the event and wished her for future endeavours.

Taking to X, CM Khandu wrote, “A proud moment for Arunachal Pradesh! Congratulations to Veronica Padung on winning Gold in Senior Female Kumite (Sparring) 55 kg category at 17th All India Independence Karate Championship 2023 held in New Delhi. Keep working hard and winning! Best wishes.”

Dy CM Chowna Mein wrote, “Congratulations, Veronica Padung, for securing the Gold medal in the 55 kg Senior Female Kumite (Sparring) category at the 17th All India Independence Karate Championship 2023 in New Delhi. Your dedication and skill have set a shining example for us all. Best wishes for your future endeavors!
