As the Assam state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) gets ready for the forthcoming Assembly elections, Minister of Agriculture and Farmer Welfare, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Narendra Singh Tomar has been appointed as the in-charge of the BJP Election Committee for Assam.
Also, senior BJP leader and Union Minister of State (Ind Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region Jitendra Singh has been appointed as the additional in-charge.
Narendra Singh Tomar and Jitendra Singh will oversee all aspects of the election in the coming days. It is to be noted that the state BJP under Ranjeet Kumar Dass has been strengthening the organization and have already started mass contact campaigns.
In the midst of all the campaigns, an important meeting on Assembly elections was held at the official residence of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonwal on Tuesday evening. The meeting was attended by BJP State President Ranjeet Kumar Dass, Assam Education, Health and Finance Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Chief Minister’s Legal Adviser Shantanu Bharali, MP and National General Secretary Dilip Saikia and Minister Bhavesh Kalita.
BJP in an alliance with the AGP and UPPL will be contesting the Assam Assembly polls scheduled for March or April this year. The saffron party is targeting 100 plus seats in the 126-member Assam Legislative Assembly.
