The body of an unidentified woman was found on Orang-Kalaktang-Shergaon-Rupa-Tenga (OKSRT) highway near Shikaridanga under Udalguri district of Assam by Balemu police of Kalaktang Sub-division, under West Kameng district on Sunday.
As per the sources, it is suspected that the woman was killed by wild elephants, as there were elephant footprints near the body. The age of the victim is estimated to be around 30 years, around 5 feet tall, and wearing a purple shirt.
Sources also said that there were random scraps found near the body from which it may be assumed that the victim was mentally disturbed.
Balemu Police has intimated all nearby police stations including Assam counterparts about the [unidentified body, although no one has come forward to claim the body so far. Police have also circulated a phone number- 6033920841 – to contact them to claim the body.
It may be mentioned here that Balemu, being a small circle block has no morgue facility at its Community Health Centre which makes it difficult for the police to keep the body for longer periods.
