With insurgent group ULFA-I spreading its tentacles in the state of Assam, a joint team of Tinsukia Police and Cobra Commandos, arrested two youths who were supposedly to join the Paresh Barua led faction.
The two youths identified as Raju Moran and Nabajit Mahanta expressed willingness to join the ULFA–Independent and confessed during interrogation that they were in contact with the insurgent group through a linkman.
The linkman, who has been identified as Palash Jyoti Moran, is also in police custody.
The shocking development comes after a female kick boxer abandoned her study and career to join the insurgent group.
For the past few months, intelligence reports have revealed that a group of youths from the state have been joining the ULFA-I cadre.
