A case has been registered against them under the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Foreigner's Act, and the Passport Act.

Tripura police on Thursday apprehended at least three Bangladeshi nationals, including a woman and a child from Chandrapur Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) for illegally entering India.

The Bangladeshi nationals were caught during a routine patrol conducted by the East Agartala Police Station. They had entered India without passports and other relevant documents and were on their way to Punjab.

A case has been registered under the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Foreigner’s Act, and the Passport Act. They will be presented in court.

While speaking to media, Inspector Sanjit Sen, the Officer-in-Charge of the East Agartala police station said that upon noticing three individuals behaving suspiciously at the ISBT, one of the police personnel initiated a preliminary investigation.

Acting swiftly, it was discovered that all three individuals were Bangladeshi nationals who had entered India without proper documentation, including passports, he added.

Upon interrogation, the three suspects admitted to being Bangladeshi nationals. They were traveling with a toddler and disclosed that they intended to reach Punjab. Their plan was thwarted by the alertness of the police force, which promptly identified them as foreign infiltrators, Sen further added.

The purpose of the remand is to facilitate further interrogation aimed at uncovering their entry route into India and identifying any facilitators who aided their illegal crossing.

This incident highlights the ongoing efforts by the Agartala police to tackle illegal immigration and enhance security measures within the region.
