Tripura Police arrests 9 Bangladeshi citizens with fake Indian documents

Acting on a tip-off, on Sunday, Teliamura police conducted a special operation, leading to the arrest of these individuals along with their local accomplices.

In a big breathrough, the Tripura Police have arrested at least 9 Bangladeshi nationals residing in three rented houses at Gouranga Tilla under Teliamura police station in Khowai district of Tripura.

They had been living there for the past month using suspicious Indian documents.

Acting on a tip-off, on Sunday, Teliamura police conducted a special operation, leading to the arrest of these individuals along with their local accomplices.

Inspector Nandan Baidya, who spearheaded the operation, stated that specific information about Bangladeshi citizens residing in rented houses prompted the action.

Two separate teams, led by Sub-Inspector Bidya Lakshmi Debbarma and Divyajyoti Majumdar, were deployed for investigation, resulting in the detention of 12 suspects.

Among the detainees, three were identified as citizens of Bihar, while the remaining nine possessed suspicious documents from Assam.

Police initiated investigations and interrogations, revealing that all nine admitted to illegally entering Tripura from Gopalganj in Bangladesh through different routes along the India-Bangladesh border.

They confessed to engaging in the sale of blankets and other winter items.

The incident has sparked widespread concern and speculation regarding the apprehension of these suspicious individuals.

Teliamura police station second officer, Nandan Baidya, stating that the detainees will be booked under the Indian Passport Act.
