Tripura police arrest main accused for posting fake news on CM Biplab Deb, spouse

A joint team of the Delhi Police and Tripura Police arrested Anupam Paul for spreading fake news in social media about alleged bitter family life of chief minister Biplab Deb.
A joint team of the Delhi Police and Tripura Police arrested Anupam Paul for spreading fake news in social media about alleged bitter family life of chief minister Biplab Deb.
Paul, the prime accused in the case was a traced in a location in Delhi from where he was finally arrested. A case was filed against Paul by the State BJP Unit in West Agartala Police Station following which he has been on the run.
Meanwhile, the Tripura police had arrested a freelance television journalist for sharing the Facebook post by Anupam Paul that claimed that Chief Minister Biplab Deb’s wife Niti Deb had filed a divorce at the Tis Hazari court in Delhi.
It may be mentioned that both Biplab Deb and his wife had rubbished the reports terming them as a political conspiracy to destabilise the BJP government in the state.
They also threatened to move a defamation case against the perpetrators. Paul is being brought to Tripura capital Agartala where he will be produced before the court.
