Tripura: One unlisted cadre of proscribed NLFT (BM) surrenders before BSF

The surrendered cadre has been identified as Chhanaklu Debbarma, resident of Hanorai Sardar Para in Sepahijala district.

One unlisted cadre of the proscribed National Liberation Front of Tripura (Bishwamohan) surrendered before the Border Security Force in Tripura on Saturday.

The surrendered cadre has been identified as Chhanaklu Debbarma, resident of Hanorai Sardar Para in Sepahijala district.

“On 27th Jan’ 2024, in the area of Border out post (BOP) Dyke VIII under Gandachera, Dhalai, one unlisted cadre of NLFT (BM) surrendered before BSF authorities”, a BSF official said.

“Debbarma surrendered and decided to involve himself in the main stream of the nation”, official added.

The surrendered insurgent Debbarma joined NLFT (BM) outfit in the month of October 2022.

“Tripura state has been insurgency prone for last few decades. Due to endeavour of central agencies and state authorities, in recent past several cadres of NLFT(BM) opted to return back to the mainstream of society. Such initiative will certainly motivate the misguided youths to leave the path of violence,” BSF said.

Earlier, on January 7, one unlisted cadre, identified as Uday Manik Jamatia, a resident of village Tulsiram Bari, Police Station Killa, Gomati district, proscribed NLFT (BM) surrendered before BSF in the state.

Jamatia decided to leave the path of violence and surrender to live a normal life and to be involved in the mainstream of the nation.
