The Tripura High Court on Tuesday dismissed the plea filed by the Trinamool Congress seeking permission to hold rally of TMC national secretary Abhishek Banerjee.
The judgement was given by a bench headed by Justice Arindam Lodh.
Speaking to Northeast Live on the matter, Advocate General Siddhartha Shankar Dey said that as per the judgement of the court, any type of political assembly and gathering has been prohibited in the West Tripura sub division areas with effect from today until midnight of November 4th, which is Diwali.
Meanwhile, TMC MP Shantanu Sen while reacting on the High Court’s verdict came down heavily on the BJP-led government in Tripura. He exuded confidence that the TMC has already succeeded in winning the mandate of the people.
