CM emphasized the vital role played by the Smart Classroom initiative in fostering students' interest in education

Advancing the education system in Tripura, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha inaugurated 752 Smart Classrooms across government schools in the state on Friday. The central program took place at Umakanta Academy and was attended by various officials from the education department.

During his address, Chief Minister Dr. Saha expressed the state government’s unwavering commitment to improving the quality of education and enhancing the overall infrastructure of the education system. He emphasized the vital role played by the Smart Classroom initiative in fostering students’ interest in education and promoting a more interactive learning experience.

The Chief Minister revealed that the smart classroom initiative received a considerable boost with the central government sanctioning 812 smart classrooms for the financial years 2021-22 and 2022-23. Out of this allocation, 752 smart classrooms were inaugurated on the occasion, showcasing the government’s determination to modernize the education sector.

The implementation of these technologically advanced learning spaces extends to 744 schools at the Secondary and Higher Secondary levels, with an additional 8 primary schools also benefiting from this initiative.

Each smart class costs approximately Rs 2.78 lakh, reflecting a substantial investment to equip teachers with the latest advancements in education and ensure students are up-to-date with the evolving learning landscape.

“The state government is deeply committed to the comprehensive development of the education infrastructure. Education, health, and agriculture remain among the top priority areas for the present state government. To achieve progress in all sectors, the government continues to work on new initiatives and plans, aiming to enhance school-level education and provide children with value-based, high-quality education. The introduction of smart classrooms is a significant digital step that will play a vital role in students’ education,” stated CM Saha.

The event also witnessed the introduction of the HIRA model in Tripura, an initiative championed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The HIRA model aims to spread the light of education to every corner of the state, from remote villages to bustling cities, with both the central and state governments working collaboratively to achieve this noble goal.

In the line with the government’s proactive approach to education development, 25 additional schools will be integrated into the Vidyajyoti scheme.
