Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Saturday flagged off a consignment of 40 MT of canned pineapples for Hamburg, Germany from Kumarghat in northern Tripura which is famous for its pineapples.
CM Deb in the presence of other Minister MLA and senior officials informed that the pineapples will reach Germany by ship from Haldia port of West Bengal.
Speaking at the program CM Deb highlighted the failure of the previous governments to bring benefits to the farmers.

The Chief Minister said that before 2018 neither the government nor the people of Tripura were acquainted with the term value addition because those who had the responsibility of value addition were busy with the value addition of their party.
He claimed that earlier the pineapple farmers, the majority of whom are from the indigenous section of people, used to sell their produce for just Rs 8 a kilogram but at present, the price has gone up to Rs 15 to Rs 20 a Kg and because of which they are largely benefitted.
The Chief Minister also added that due to the various initiatives of the state government, very soon the income of the farmers of the state is going to be double in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision.
