The visit comes in the backdrop of recent reports of several industries ceasing their operations while many others are unable to start operating

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha today made his maiden visit to the industrial growth centre at Bodhjung-Nagar in West Tripura and took stock of the ground situation there.

The visit comes in the backdrop of recent reports of several industries ceasing their operations while many others are unable to start operating due to the unavailability of an uninterrupted supply of gas and electricity.

The CM along with Chief Secretary JK Sinha, DGP Amitabh Ranjan, and chairman of the Tripura Industrial Development Corporation Tinku Roy besides other senior officials interacted with the workers, entrepreneurs, and industrialists to know about the prime issues they are facing.

According to reports, out of some 120 industries that have been set up in the area, only 69 are presently operational while 50 others have shut down and several others are unable to start functioning.

In his address, the TIDC chairman Tinku Roy raised the issue of security and repeated occurrence of thefts in the industrial area which were reported to the police with video evidence but no action was taken beside the inability to supply gas as two big impediments in running industries in that area.

Meanwhile, CM Saha instructed the Chief Secretary and DGP to look into the issues raised by the industrialists and resolve them at the earliest.

The industry owners on their part expressed their satisfaction with the visit of the CM and hoped that Tripura will be made more investment-friendly.
