Situation continues to be volatile in Tripura capital Agartala a day after it witnessed some unprecedented scenes.
An uneasy calm prevailed in most parts of the town in the early hours today with reports coming in of fresh cases of arson and vandalism late last night.
As per reports, several offices of the CPI(M) were also attacked overnight in part of state.
A massive torch rally organised by the BJP was held in Agartala today. Hundreds of BJP workers took part in the rally, wherein BJP workers can be heard chanting slogans warning CPM activists.
Tripura BJP general secretary Papia Dutta speaking exclusively to Northeast Live blamed the CPM for the sequence of events. Dutta also accused CPM workers of attacking female BJP supporters yesterday leading to the subsequent chaos.
In the wake of BJP’s torch rally, massive security deployment has been made in Agartala with forces specially guarding the vulnerable pockets and CPM offices.
Meanwhile, the CPM also took out a rally to protest yesterday’s arson in its party offices in state capital Agartala and several other parts of state. Hundreds of CPI-M supporters along with senior party leaders took part in the protest march.
During the protest rally the CPM leaders pledged to fight on while accusing the BJP of resorting to rampant violence.

It may be mentioned that unprecedented scenes were witnessed in Agaratala yesterday with CPI-M offices being vandalised and set ablaze. The violence even spread to other parts of the state with reports of arson and vandalism coming in from several areas.
