Tripura: 70-Year-Old Man Sentenced to 20 Years for Rape of 6-Year-Old Child A Year Ago

A 70-year-old man from North Tripura has been sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment by a special POCSO court

A 70-year-old man from North Tripura has been sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment by a special POCSO court for the rape of a six-year-old girl child in Dharmanagar.

The incident occurred on June 4, 2023, when the accused, Hassid Ali, lured the child into a jungle while staying at his daughter’s house in the Dharmanagar subdivision.

Originally from the Kubjar area in Kailashahar, Unakoti district, Ali was staying at his daughter’s residence when he committed the crime.
The incident was immediately reported by the child’s family, and a case was registered.

Wiithin one month of registering the case the investigating officer Sanchita Nath of Dharmanagar Women Police Station had submitted the charge-sheet in the Special Court.

This sentence comes within a day of a Arunachal sessions court granting death penalty to a former hostel warden for raping 6 students and molesting 15 others.
