In what may be termed as the political climate of Tripura heating up just ahead of the urban civic body polls a TMC office was ransacked in Agartala’s Banamalipur.

The office was located at the house of Former MLA and TMC leader Shubal Bhowmik. Reportedly a TMC worker was injured during the attack.

The attack came hours after the arrest of TMC leader & actor Saayoni Ghosh.

Incidentally, a motorcycle rally of TMC was also attacked by miscreants at Chittaranjanpur here in Agartala.

The incident drew sharp and immediate reactions from the ruling BJP who called these attacks pre-planned and as part of a conspiracy to create disturbance in Tripura just ahead of the civic body polls.

It also alleged that there is an unholy understanding between Trinamool Congress and CPIM to disturb the peaceful environment in the state.

Speaking to the press late last night BJP spokesperson Nabendu Bhattcharjee accused TMC of importing hired goons to Tripura.

“The locals are not with TMC, it is only the hired goons brought in from West Bengal who are with them,” he alleged.

Meanwhile, Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath who was also present in the late-night press meet informed that a police investigation is underway.

“Since the police investigation is underway it would be unwise to say anything right now, as it might lead to unintended consequences,” Minister Nath clarified.

Earlier Saayoni Ghosh a TMC leader was arrested on charges of attempt to murder, promoting enmity between people, criminal intimidation, and criminal conspiracy.
