TMC, NCP, CPI lose national status

First Published: 10th April, 2023 22:13 IST

In a massive setback for 3 political parties, the TMC, NCP and CPI have lost their 'national party' status.

It may be mentioned here that over three-and-a-half years since nine parties — three national parties NCP, Trinamool Congress and CPI and six state parties — were issued notices by the Election Commission on why their ‘status’ should not be downgraded based on their performance in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the poll body had earlier resumed in-person hearings on this issue.
