Tripura elections 2023: TIPRA Motha announces first list of 20 candidates

Tipraha Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance or TIPRA Motha has released its first list of 20 candidates for the Assembly elections in Tripura scheduled to be held on February 16, 2023.

Brishaketu Debbarma who was the first to quit the BJP-IPFT alliance and join TIPRA Motha will be contesting from Simna constituency while Deputy CEM of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) Animesh Debbarma will be contesting from Asharambari seat reserved for ST.

CEM of TTAADC Purna Chandra Jamatia will be contesting from Bagma constituency.

TIPRA Motha, the indigenous regional party of Tripura will fight its maiden Assembly polls alone. Party chief Pradyot Manikya Debbarma had announced that the party could not form an alliance with any other party as they did not give a written assurance for its demand for a Greater Tipraland.

Voting for the 60-member Tripura Assembly will take place on February 16 and results will be declared on March 2.

According to sources, TIPRA Motha is likely to release its second list of candidates today.

Yesterday, the BJP and its ally IPFT had announced its candidates’ lists. TIPRA Motha had reached out to both these parties for an alliance.

IPFT will be contesting in five out of 60 Assembly seats while BJP would contesting in the remaining seats.
