Ahead of the 2023 assembly elections in Meghalaya, State BJP President Ernest Mawrie has sent out a clear message that it is not necessary that a sitting MLA who joins the party will be issued a ticket, instead instructions from the central leadership shall be followed, added Mawrie.

Responding to queries about suspended Congress MLA Mohendro Rapsang joining the BJP, Ernest Mawrie informed that the party has no communication whether Rapsang is willing to join or not.

Mawrie also added that it is not necessary for a sitting MLA joins the party and a ticket will be issued. He informed the party has the procedures will be followed.

Asked whether the state will get ILP if BJP is voted to power, Mawrie informed that they have formed the election manifesto committee and ILP will be part of the manifesto.

He also came clear that they have no pre-poll alliance and will fight alone especially being a national party.
