Three illegal migrants have been arrested by the police in Manipur’s Tengnoupal district.

Acting on a tip-off a police team led by Tengnoupal SP S Ibomcha Singh arrested the three Mynamar nationals from a bus at the Tengnoupal checking point. The Myanmarese nationals had secured fake identity proofs said to have been prepared in Uttar Pradesh.

During police interrogation two of the arrested Myanmarese nationals revealed that they sneaked into India to enroll themselves in Madrassas in Uttar Pradesh. Thant Zin Soe changed his name to Asadullah with a fake Aadhar card as his identity proof and completed a two year course at Darool Uloom in Deoband in Uttar Pradesh.

On the other hand Thant Zin Tun who changed his name to Mohammed Haroon had completed a two year old course at Jamia Miftahool Uloom in Jalalabad in Uttar Pradesh. However, the third arrested Aung Thi Ha had strayed into India after he fled following communal clash in Meikhtila city in 2013.

A Northeast Live investigation following the arrest of 24 Bangladeshis from Agartala Railway Station on May 10 had revealed shocking details of the existence of this illegal cross-border travel network besides exposing the existence of a racket that provides fake identity proof to Bangladeshi nationals, including fake Aadhar cards.

A group of 24 Bangladeshi nationals reached Agartala railway station from Uttar Pradesh. They had entered India in batches around three years ago and had enrolled themselves in reputed Madrassas for degrees in Islamic theology in Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu.

After completion of their courses, they were on their way back home to Bangladesh via Tripura that shares a long border with their country. These latest string of incidents only speaks volumes of the fact that India’s porous international border with Bangladesh and Myanmar is posing as a great threat to the nation.
