Despite challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, he successfully mentored 7 students who achieved university rankings.

Government Serchhip College has been blessed with the selfless dedication of Dr. NB Sachhei, Associate Professor of Zoology, who retired on August 31, 2024, but chose to continue teaching without compensation. His decision came as the Zoology department was left with only two teachers post-retirement, raising concerns about the students’ learning experience.

For the past three months, Dr. Sachhei has demonstrated unparalleled devotion to education, ensuring classes are conducted smoothly. Known for his disciplined approach, he arrives punctually at 9 AM every day, meticulously maintaining student profiles and class attendance, which are regularly reviewed by the Principal.

Dr. Sachhei’s passion for teaching is rooted in his unwavering commitment to his students’ success. His initial goal was to produce 10 university rank holders in Zoology. Despite challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, he successfully mentored 7 students who achieved university rankings.

An alumnus of Rangoon University, Dr. Sachhei’s illustrious career spans over 33 years (1991-2024). He has been a cornerstone of Government Serchhip College since joining in July 2008, earning admiration for his exceptional teaching methods and relentless work ethic.
