Tension prevails in Kolasib district of Mizoram with protests being staged demanding the ouster of Deputy Commissioner Arun T.

Only recently, violent protests were witnessed outside the DC’s office in the district demanding removal of Bru names from the electoral roll and now protests are being staged again calling for the ouster of the DC.

Significantly, the powerful NGO Coordination Committee, which led to the demand for removal of Chief Election Officer SB Shashank, now wants the deputy commissioner of Kolasib Arun T to step down.

The committee claims that Arun T included the names of 218 Bru refugees still residing in camps of Tripura in the Voter’s list without ascertaining whether they are bona fide residents of the state.

Over 300 protesters had gathered outside the DC’s office last week as part of the state wide protest organized by a group of NGOs against the removal of Principal Secretary Lalnunmawia Chuaungo.
