As a mark of protest against the State government for failing to meet its demands, the Mizoram Government Aided School Association (MIGASA) today observed a ‘No Teaching Day’.

The MIGASA, which is an umbrella body of private teachers working in government lump sum grant-in-aid high schools and middle schools, has been demanding upgrade of 61 schools to Ad Hoc status.

MIGASA President C. Laln-gaih-zuala said that they had to resort to stir as the government has paid no heed to their demands.

He further added that the strike would continue till August 17. Criticizing the Mizoram government’s alleged lacklustre attitude, he said that the association would impose closure on 61 schools to intensify its agitation if the demands are not met at the earliest.
