A 24 thousand litre tanker carrying diesel overturned on Umtyra in East Jaintia Hills district on Monday.
Reportedly, the fuel-laden vehicle bearing registration number NL-01 AD 0676 met with an accident while it was travelling from Guwahati to Silchar via the Meghalaya route.
After the incident, locals rushed to the scene with all types of containers to collect the spilled fuel from the overturned carrier.
However, police reached the spot later, after which they dispersed the crowd and cordoned off the area.
No injury has been reported in the incident.
