Specially abled thrashed to death in Assam sends shockwaves

First Published: 1st September, 2022 18:49 IST

The spine-chilling incident happened at Baikunth-pur in Jonai. The deceased has been identified as Golap Barua.

Even as 4 years have passed and justice still awaits Abhijeet Nath and Nilotpal Das, who were lynched in Doboka in 2018, Assam witnessed a similar, or let’s just say, a worse instance of mob lynching after an irate mob attacked and killed a mentally challenged man to death – all because they thought he was a child lifter.

The spine-chilling incident happened at Baikunth-pur in Jonai. The deceased has been identified as Golap Barua.

And not just this, the intensity of the injuries is so extreme that the visuals cannot be played for the sake of our viewers.

However, we do intend to show you the visuals of the perpetrators behind the heinous crime. Eye-witnesses are of the view that this particular case of mob lynching is deadlier than the Abhi-Neel case of 2018.

It is learned that the incident happened when the man reportedly tried to carry an infant from the mother’s arms.

However, what followed was a commotion after a section of the public started attacking the man, suspecting him to be a child lifter.

Meanwhile, police have detained two people in connection with the case. The incident has left the family members of the deceased devastated.

The incident has once again posed serious questions on the conduct of the public and how we as members of society have failed to learn our lessons from the gruesome Abhi-Neel mob lynching case.
