Sikkim’s ‘Millet Man’ Tshering Gyatso Lepcha to Be Honored as Eminent Agriculturist at Republic Day

In a proud moment for Sikkim and its farming community, Tshering Gyatso Lepcha, fondly known as the “Millet Man of Sikkim,” has been selected to attend the prestigious ‘At Home Reception’ at Rashtrapati Bhawan during Republic Day celebration. Recognized for his remarkable contributions to agriculture and seed conservation, Lepcha is among ten Eminent Agriculturists nominated by the President of India this year.

A progressive farmer from Sikkim, Lepcha has dedicated his life to preserving indigenous seed varieties, with a focus on millets, a crop deeply rooted in the state’s agricultural traditions.
