Sikkim: SNPP merges with ruling SKM

The Sikkim National People’s Party on Tuesday merged with the ruling dispensation Sikkim Krantikari Morcha in the presence of Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang.
Chief Minister Tamang officially welcomed Sikkim National People’s Party President Delay Namgyal into the party fold at an event held at Samman Bhawan in Gangtok.
Chief Minister Tamang also welcomed more than 300 leaders and workers of the Sikkim National People’s Party into the party.

The Chief Minister urged the new members to sincerely abide by SKM’s ideology and work to serve the masses and strive towards taking Sikkim to greater heights.
Notably, the Sikkim National People’s Party was formed in 2008 by Biraj Adhikari and Delay Namgyal Barfungpa.
However, Adhikari joined the Baichung Bhutia-led Hamro Sikkim Party in 2018 following which Barfungpa was elected as the party president by its members.
