Amid hectic politicking in Sikkim ahead of the Sikkim assembly elections, violence continues in the state. In a fresh incident of violence, leaders of Sikkim democratic Front (SDF) including party spokespersons JB Darnal and Jai Rai Kirat were allegedly attacked by some unidentified miscreants on Thursday evening. SDF has blamed ruling SKM for the attack and accused the party of indulging in “political terrorism”.
JB Darnal said that yesterday they went on a social visit with other party workers. While, they were returning home, a large group of Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) party workers accosted them and attacked them near the Jorethang School in Jorethang Town causing injuries to many.
He said that there have been multiple instances of attacks and obstruction on opposition party members over the past four years.
Terming it ‘political terrorism’, Darnal questioned, “how long will it take for them to take up guns next in the violent environment that is being created?”
Meanwhile, Political Secretary of SDF and Party Supremo, Pawan Chamling’s daughter, Komal Chamling has condemned the attack and accused the ruling SKM for being involved in the incident.
