Sikkim chief minister Prem Singh Tamang on Tuesday assured that the Himalayan state is ready to tackle any eventuality as far as the COVID-19 situation is concerned.

Speaking on the sidelines of inaugural session of the second day of fish mela held at Gangtok, the Chief Minister said that 40 medical officers have been appointed to deal with the Coronavirus situation and the state has sufficient manpower and infrastructure to set up at the moment.

CM Tamang also added that the vaccination drive has been smooth in the state so far.

Strict protocols are in place in the state with night curfew in force while markets remain shut during weekends.

Meanwhile, 91 fresh cases have been reported from Sikkim today. With 495 active cases, the total number of positive cases has risen to 6,796.
