The Government of Sikkim has made masks mandatory in public places ahead of the festive season and New Year celebrations, as well as in view of the spike in Covid-19 cases in various countries.
The Sikkim Government issued the COVID advisory today and has taken steps to minimize the risk of an increase in transmission of the disease and avoid a Covid-19 outbreak in the state and the country.
Citizens have also been asked to maintain social distance and avoid crowded places, social gatherings and international travel, if possible.
People have been directed to wash their hands regularly with soap and water or sanitisers.
Citizens have been advised to seek medical care immediately if they experience any symptoms such as fever, sore throat, cough, loose motions, and so on, and to get themselves tested for Covid-19.
Furthermore, the government has appealed people to get themselves vaccinated for Covid-19, if not done already, including precautionary doses.
The notification further asked citizens to follow the advisories issued by the Government from time to time.
