Sikkim’s Health Minister, G.T. Dhungel, has expressed strong dissatisfaction with the administrative inefficiencies at Sajong Pharmacy College in Rumtek. During his recent visit to the institution, established in 2018 and affiliated with Sikkim University, the minister highlighted several shortcomings that he described as “glaring and unacceptable.”

The college, approved by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) and the Pharmacy Council of India, has faced criticism for failing to maintain adequate educational and infrastructural standards.

Minister Dhungel held an urgent meeting with the college authorities to address these issues. He urged the management to prioritise the students’ welfare and improve the institution’s overall quality. “These lapses cannot be ignored. Providing quality education is our utmost responsibility,” he emphasised.

The college management acknowledged the concerns raised and assured the minister of immediate corrective measures. Dhungel pledged to monitor the situation closely to ensure that necessary improvements are made promptly.

The minister was accompanied by key health department officials, including Principal Directors Dr. Pema Seden and Dr. T. Pema, Deputy Secretary Aita Raj Subba, and other staff members. During his visit, he also commended the current state government, led by Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay, for its ongoing efforts to promote development in Sikkim.
