Sikkim is gearing up to welcome the venerated Dalai Lama. The revered spiritual leader is scheduled to visit the state from December 11 to 14.
Ahead of the visit, a meeting was convened by V B Pathak, Chief Secretary of Sikkim, to review the security measures and preparedness of the state to receive the globally acclaimed spiritual leader.
Various departments presented updates on their respective responsibilities aimed at ensuring the smooth and secure visit of His Holiness.
Detailed discussions were held regarding the issuance of security passes, the coordination of authorized vehicle movements, media coverage, logistics, catering arrangements, and other important aspects.
The meeting was attended by secretaries and officers of all the concerned departments.
Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama visit has been canceled two times earlier, at first it was scheduled for October 10-14, which was first postponed due to flash floods on October 3. Again it was rescheduled to October 16-22, but the visit faced another setback due to the ongoing disaster in the Himalayan State caused by floods resulting from a glacial lake outburst flood (GLOF) at Lhonak Lake in the Chungthang area of North Sikkim.
