A high-level meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) at his official residence, Mintokgang today to take stock of the COVID-19 preparedness in the state. With Covid cases spiking alarmingly CM Golay took stock of the status of dedicated beds for Covid patients, ICU beds, medicines, manpower, and other equipments.
The Chief Minister was assured by the authorities that all the equipment including oxygen cylinders, medicines and other necessary items were in order.
The Chief Minister directed the officials to put their best foot forward to combat COVID-19 infection in the state.
In the past few days, Sikkim has seen a sudden spike in Covid infections, with both numbers and positivity rates showing a marked increase. Sikkim recorded 354 new Covid cases on January 14th with one death. The state government has announced strict restrictions on the movement and gathering of people, along with a COVID negative certificate for entry to Sikkim starting January 10. It has also shut down educational institutes till January 31st.
