Sikkim CM PS Tamang, Speaker Upreti files nomination for Assembly

The Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) chief is looking for a second term as the Chief Minister of Sikkim and a third term as MLA

Sikkim Chief Minister PS Tamang filed his nomination papers for the Rhenock seat today. He is contesting from the Soreng-Chakung seat too for which he filed the papers yesterday.

The Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) chief is looking for a second term as the Chief Minister of Sikkim and a third term as MLA.

Tamang also known as PS Golay, would be contesting from the Rhenock seat for the first time. He has won the Soreng-Chakung seat thrice earlier in 1994, 1999 and 2004. The seat was earlier known as Chakung.

Sikkim Assembly Speaker Arun Upreti, also from the SKM, filed his papers for the Arithang seat for a second term. He is the sitting MLA from Arithang. After winning the seat in the 2019 Assembly elections, Upreti served as food and civil supplies and consumer affairs, and urban and housing development minister in the PS Tamang cabinet. In 2022 he became the Speaker of the Sikkim Assembly.
