Instead of fulfilling their duty by upholding the law, the 4 accused policemen reportedly conspired to profit from the confiscated drugs
In a shocking turn of events, four police personnel from Assam’s Karimganj have been arrested on charges of their alleged involvement in the drug trade.
The incident came to light after 21 kilograms of cannabis was seized by the police, only to be discovered later that the arrested policemen had attempted to sell the contraband rather than preserve it as evidence.
The arrests took place in Badarpur, Karimganj, following the recovery of 21 kilograms of cannabis by the police. Instead of fulfilling their duty of upholding the law, the four accused policemen reportedly conspired to profit from the confiscated drugs.
In a related development, a search conducted at the railway police staff quarters in the Government Railway Police (GRP) colony of Badarpur resulted in the seizure of an additional 26 kilograms of ganja and Rs 46,500 in cash.
Three railway constables identified as Jogeshwar Das, Abhishek Chand, Sagar Malakar and Dipak Malakar were subsequently taken into custody in connection with the incident.
Authorities swiftly respond by sending the four arrested railway policemen to jail and suspending them from their duties.
