Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh, DGP Rajiv Singh Inspects Indo-Myanmar Border and Fencing Projects

In a significant development, Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh, accompanied by Director General of Manipur Police Rajiv Singh, made his first visit to the Indo-Myanmar border town of Moreh today. The high-profile delegation carried out an extensive inspection of the Integrated Check Post (ICP), the Indo-Myanmar border areas, and the ongoing border fencing project. They also met with various security personnel to discuss the challenges of managing the volatile border zone.

The visit commenced early in the morning, with Kuldiep Singh, DGP Rajiv Singh, and senior Manipur Police officials inspecting the border region. Their focus included the critical stretch between Border Pillars 77 and 78, as well as the unfenced sections spanning Border Pillars 79 to 80. The delegation reviewed the progress of border fencing, a project spearheaded by the Border Roads Task Force (BRTF). Officials on-site provided detailed updates about the current status and hurdles in completing the fencing work.

At the Integrated Check Post in Moreh, the team assessed its functioning and later moved to the Manipur Police Inspection Bungalow, where they interacted with personnel from the Commando (CDO) unit. The discussions emphasized operational difficulties faced by the security forces and highlighted strategies for better coordination. Both Kuldiep Singh and DGP Rajiv Singh acknowledged the personnel’s dedication, offering words of encouragement and assurances of support.

A comprehensive security meeting followed at the Inspection Bungalow, with senior officials, including the Deputy Commissioner of Tengnoupal, the Superintendent of Police of Tengnoupal, the Commandant of the 5th Assam Rifles, and the Additional SP of Operations, in attendance. The meeting deliberated on measures to strengthen border management, tackle security issues, and improve operational efficiency.

The Security Advisor and DGP expressed their commitment to enhancing border safety and indicated plans to return for another detailed inspection within the next three months. This visit underscores the government’s focus on reinforcing security along the Indo-Myanmar border and addressing the unique challenges of this critical frontier region.
