SDF Candidate Daniel Rai Withdraws Candidature, SKM’s Satish Rai Wins Namchi-Singhithang Seat Unopposed

Daniel Rai submitted Form 5 for withdrawal of candidature to the Returning Officer and District Election Officer of Namchi today
Within hours of Sikkim Democratic Front’s (SDF) Prem Bahadur Bhandari withdrawing his candidature from the Soreng-Chakung seat, SDF’s candidate for the Namchi-Singhithang Assembly seat, Daniel Rai too has pulled out of the bypoll race today paving the way for Sikkim Krantikari Morcha’s (SKM) Satish Chandra Rai to win the seat unopposed.
Daniel Rai submitted Form 5 for withdrawal of candidature to the Returning Officer and District Election Officer of Namchi today.
Earlier in the day, SKM’s Aditya Golay Tamang, son of Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang had won the Soreng-Chakung seat unopposed as SDF’s Bhandari withdrew his candidature.
Yesterday, Sikkim Minister and SKM leader D B Dahal told Northeast Live that both SDF candidate would pull out of the bypoll race.
With both SKM candidates winning the two Assembly seats, the total strength of SKM in the 32-member Sikkim Assembly has gone up to 32. SKM has wiped out Opposition in the state.
