Rs 20 lakh robbed from SBI Churachandpur branch in Manipur, 4th incident in a year

On November 30, 2023, at least 10 unidentified armed men robbed Rs 18.85 crore from PNB in Ukhrul district

Unknown miscreants have allegedly robbed around Rs 20 lakh from the State Bank of India (SBI)’s branch at K Salbung village in Churachandpur of Manipur.

The incident took place at around 2 pm on Thursday, the day when unrest in Manipur completed a year.

An investigation into the incident is currently underway.

This is the fourth incident of bank robbery since ethnic clashes broke out on May 3 last year in the state.

Earlier, on July 10 2023, miscreants had robbed valuables worth Rs 1.5 crore from an Axis Bank in Churachandpur.

Four days later, on July 14, 2023, in Kangpokpi district, unidentified miscreants targeted a bank and looted computers and other electronic items worth nearly Rs 1 crore.

On November 30, 2023, at least 10 unidentified armed men allegedly looted Rs 18.85 crore from the Punjab National Bank (PNB) in Manipur’s Ukhrul district.
