Rio backs integration of contiguous areas in I-Day speech

Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio today reiterated that the Naga Political issue was the PDA government’s top agenda.
While addressing a gathering on the occasion of the Independence Day celebrations in Kohima this morning, Rio said that in order to create an atmosphere to facilitate an early solution, several measures are been taken up including setting up of a political affairs committee.
Rio also took the opportunity to assert that his government backs the integration of Naga contiguous areas and appealed to the neighbouring states to respect the history and democratic rights of the Nagas.
On the occasion, Rio also mourned the loss of as many as 10 lives during the recent landslides and floods that hit the state. Rio also urged the people to be aware of the imminent disasters that can befall due to unplanned development and encroachment.
