The Union Cabinet on Wednesday cleared the revised version of the Citizenship Amendment Bill paving way for its tabling in the Parliament.
The meeting, which took place this morning at about 9:30 am, approved the bill in its new and revised version. Now after this approval by the cabinet, the bill is all set to be tabled in both the houses of the ongoing winter session of the Parliament.
The crucial Union Cabinet meet was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and other cabinet ministers.
The bill is likely to be tabled in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on December 9 and 10 respectively.
It may be mentioned that Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has asked BJP MPs to be present in large numbers in the parliament on the day Shah tables the bill.
