Union Minister of State for Railways and Textiles Darshana Jardosh today announced that railways are planning to develop tourist spots near railway stations to boost tourism alongside connectivity as the railway reaches Manipur.
Speaking to the media at a Hotel in Imphal, the minister stated that she had already shared this idea with Chief Minister Biren Singh and added that an MoU will be signed along with the state government for the development of the tourist spots.
The UMoS also added that Manipur has a huge tourism potential and such tourist spots may further be upscaled to the level of film locations, which will attract people as well as filmmakers.
Recalling the recent Marangching landslide tragedy in the Noney district, Darshana informed that consultation on the installation of an early warning system for disaster is underway.
She also expressed a desire to further improve sericulture in the state through modernization, training, and upscale production.
Meanwhile, taking part in the press meeting, the General Manager of NFR, Anshul Gupta explained that the early warning system will be installed so that people are alerted and any unfortunate incidents may be avoided.
He added that the railway is working on installing the early warning system within 3 months’ time.
Anshul further said that passenger coach from Agartala via Silchar will reach Khongshang railway station in Manipur by September this year.
