PV Sindhu pulls out of badminton World Championship 2022

PV Sindhu was seen playing with taping on her left leg during the women's singles final at the Commonwealth Games against Michelle Li of Canada.
Former champion PV Sindhu will not head to Tokyo for the BWF World Championships 2022, starting August 21 after suffering an injury during her Commonwealth Games 2022 campaign in Birmingham.
Sindhu took to social media to confirm she had suffered a stress fracture on her left foot during the CWG and was pulling out of the world meet in the Japanese capital.
Sindhu in a tweet said, “While I am on the high of winning a Gold medal at the CWG for India, unfortunately, I have to pull out of the World Championships.”
PV Sindhu was seen playing with taping on her left leg during the women’s singles final at the Commonwealth Games against Michelle Li of Canada.
Sindhu battled through the pain to win the gold medal match 21-15, 21-13, and complete the full set of Commonwealth Games medals by finishing on the top step of the podium for the first time.
Sindhu was pushed to the limits in the quarter-finals against Malaysia’s Goh Jin Wei as she needed 3 games to get through to the last-four round. Sindhu also played a crucial role in the mixed team event as she led India’s run to a silver medal finish.
Sindhu, in her statement, revealed after her return from Birmingham that she had played the quarter-final, semi-final, and the final of the women’s singles event with pain.
Sindhu had been on a good run, winning the Singapore Open before she the success at the Commonwealth Games.
Sindhu is one of the most successful Indian shuttlers at the World Championships, having won a Gold, 2 silver medals, and 2 bronze medals at the premier tournament.
