Meghalaya Urban Affairs Minister and member of the High Level Committee, Hamlet Dohling on Monday said that the committee is looking after Sweeper Lane relocation issue very cautiously.
The Urban Affairs minister said that the issue is sensitive and hence the committee is careful and working on the every little detail or suggestions.
He also informed that the committee needs to have one or two more sittings to be able to give its recommendations to the government.
Asked about the demand of the NGOs to get to an early solution, Hamlet maintained that the task is difficult and sensitive.
He urged upon the members of the NGOs and society to be patient as the high level committee members are on the job and will definitely get to a solution.
Earlier on Monday, as many as 12 pressure groups in Shillong called on the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council chief HS Shylla, demanding early eviction of illegal settlers from the Sweeper’s Lane in Shillong.
The colony was the centre of controversy just over two months ago following clashes between two groups.
