Poll officer spot dead in road accident in Assam’s Lakhimpur

The deceased has been identified as Rajiv Lekharu, who was a professor at Bihpuria College in Lakhimpur district.

In a tragic incident, an election officer died on the spot in a terrible road accident in Assam’s Lakhimpur on Saturday.

The deceased election officer identified as Rajiv Lekharu, was returning home from Lakhimpur after completing his election duty. The accident took place when the vehicle he was travelling in collided head-on with a passenger bus, killing him on the spot.

Rajiv Lekharu was a professor at Bihpuria College in Lakhimpur district.

It is to be mentioned here that polling for five Lok Sabha seats – Lakhimpur, Sonitpur, Jorhat, Kaziranga and Dibrugarh in Assam was held on the April 19, the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections 2024.
