Karimganj Police seized a total of 6,100 bottles of banned Codeine Phosphate cough syrup and arrested one person in this connection in Assam’s Karimganj district along the Assam-Tripura border.
According to Karimganj police, the police team conducted a naka checking at the Churaibari area along the Assam-Tripura border and intercepted a truck loaded with potatoes on Thursday night.
During the search, the police team recovered the bottles of cough syrup from the secret chamber of the vehicle.
The market value of the seized cough syrup is estimated at Rs 4 crore.
Police arrested the truck driver and seized the truck as well.
The arrested person has been identified as Biswajit Biswas, a resident of Tripura.
