At a time when the number of positive Coronavirus cases is rising in the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday urged people not to believe in rumours about the outbreak of the virus.

During his interaction with beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Janaushadi Pariyojana, PM Modi further said that there are lots of misinformation doing the rounds in social media.

PM Modi also appealed people to inculcate the habit of greeting each other with a “Namaste” instead of a regular handshake as one of the measures to prevent the spread of the deadly Coronavirus.

Meanwhile, India’s total number of confirmed cases has risen to 33 after two persons from Amritsar in Punjab with travel history to Italy tested positive.

Two people from Jammu and Kashmir are suspected to have been affected by COVID-19. Their test reports indicate high probability of testing positive. Both have been kept in isolation and are reported to be stable.

The two individuals with travel history to Italy and South Korea, had left the hospital against medical advice and had to be brought back.

Union health minister Harsh Vardhan is likely to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss the situation.

The Centre has also put pre-call awareness messages about COVID-19 on BSNL and Jio service providers.
