After an unsuccessful attempt to unite the regional forces together under a common candidate for all the parties ahead of the Ranikor bypolls, the People’s Democratic Federation has decided to fight the elections alone.

PDF secretary Auspicious L. Mawphlang informed that they have decided to field a candidate for the Ranikor bypoll but they are yet to finalise on one candidate. He also added here that the party’s central election commission was held in which discussions were held about the chances of winning the bypolls.

When asked if party chairman PN Syiem would be the candidate, the PDF secretary said that Syiem had approached the party on this and that the party CEC will soon take a call on this.

On the UDP’s decision to field its own candidate , Mawphlang said that they always had doubts if the UDP would cooperate in the bypolls. In such a scenario, the PDF decided to go alone in the bypolls.
