The Neiphiu Rio-led ruling PDA coalition may soon take a call on holding a special session of the State assembly on the Naga issue.
This was informed by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio to Northeast Live when the latter was asked about his meeting with NEDA convener and senior Assam minister Hirnanta Biswa Sanna on Sunday last.
Rio said the PDA will discuss the issue and if the need arises a special session will be held. As per reports. Sanna had asked Rio to conduct a special session of the state assembly if need be.
Meanwhile, Rio added that he endorses the NEDA convener’s suggestion to work together with the opposition on the Naga issue.
However, Rio’s sharp differences with the leader of the opposition and veteran NPF leader TR Zeliang came to the fore once again with the former yet again dismissing Zeliang’s suggestion for creating an alternative to the existing Joint Legislators Forum on Peace Talks.
Rio also questioned Zeliang’s remarks quoting Union Home Minister Amit Shah on flag and constitution saying that such things were never discussed in Delhi.
It may be mentioned that Zeliang had claimed that Union Home Minister Amit Shah informed him that the Centre was not willing to negotiate on the separate flag and constitution issue.
