The Excise and Narcotics Department, Mizoram have recovered over 1 kg heroin in two different operations and arrested two drug peddlers, including a Myanmar national in connection to the case.
Based on specific inputs, a team of the Excise and Narcotics Department conducted a search operation at Kolasib district on Thursday evening.
During the operation, the team intercepted a Maruti Eeco Van. On checking the vehicle throughly, the team recovered 96 soap cases, containing 1.53 kg of heroin and arrested two drug peddlers.
Arrested drug peddlers have been identified as–42 year old Kapthanruma from Khawmawi, Myanmar and 51 year old Lalruatkima of Bualpui, Kolasib district.
In a another operation at Bairabi road, Rengtekawn of Kolasib district in the early hours today, the team recovered 13 soap cases, containing 261.370 grams of heroin.
All the arrested have been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 and were taken to court.
The Excise and Narcotics Department officials stated that these drugs were being transferred for sale outside of Mizoram.
