Officer on Special duty (OSD) to Home Department, Mizoram David Lalthangliana said that the 2 SPs have been asked to do a spot inspection and file a report

The Mizoram Home Department has directed the SPs of Lunglei and Mamit to ascertain the alleged presence of rebel training camps in the border villages of Mamit and Lunglei.

The move came after the Peace Accord MNF Returnees Association (PAMRA) claimed that rebel groups from Bangladesh’s Chittagong Hill Tracts are undergoing training in the two Mizoram districts.

In its statement, PAMRA claimed that the Chakma rebel group from Bangladesh CHT, the Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sangati Samatee led by Santu Larma is currently undergoing training at six locations of Lunglei district and two locations in Mamit district.

The PAMRA stated that such trainings by armed militant groups can have serious implications on the security of Mizoram and its residents, and urged the State government to immediately take actions to stop the training.

Speaking to Northeast Live, Officer on Special duty (OSD) to Home Department, Mizoram David Lalthangliana said that the 2 SPs have been asked to do a spot inspection and file a report.
