The number of Omicron cases in India stands at 5 now. Delhi recorded its first case of the Omicron variant of corona virus, informed health minister Satyendar Jain. The patient, who was admitted to LNJP Hospital, had just returned from Tanzania.

As per reports of Union health ministry, India saw a single-day rise of 2,796 fatalities on Sunday with Bihar carrying out a reconciliation exercise of its Covid data, pushing the country’s death toll to 4,73,326, while 8,895 new infections were reported. India’s total tally of Covid-19 cases has increased to 3,46,33,255, reports stated.

In Mumbai, a 33-year-old who had travelled to India from Cape Town in South Africa tested positive on Saturday. A 72-year-old NRI who flew in from Zimbabwe on November 28 is Gujarat’s first case. The first two cases of Omicron were reported from Bengaluru, of whom one flew out of the country.
